Chiltern Plant Library
A working library of 130 plants we use in real gardens across the Chilterns and Thames Valley. Each profile includes light, soil, pruning, wildlife value and our own CGM care notes.
Use your postcode, choose the conditions, then refine the plant match here.
Start with either route—or combine both. A postcode pre-fills local soil and drainage clues; the plant options then let you refine for light, height, colour, pollinators, pets and children, screening and maintenance. Your matches appear below without leaving the Plant Library.
For a decision involving cost, safety, drainage, companion planting or long-term performance, use a Garden Analysis Report or active client access.
Plan the next stepThis matcher is a practical starting point, not a substitute for inspecting a specific garden. The extra value of CGM client access is the property history, seasonal calendar, plant relationships and decisions that depend on the real site—not hiding ordinary information behind a paywall.
Find a plant family by the way your garden needs to feel.
Start with a real condition, not an endless plant list. Pick a direction and we will take you straight to a useful part of the library.
About this library
This is a working library updated by our gardeners, not an encyclopaedia. Every plant here is one of many we have planted, pruned or maintained in real gardens across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Bedfordshire. The CGM care notes are our own observations from working with each plant in the Chilterns.
